Convention Fashion - Strange or Eccentric?

Hi Darlings:

I just finished watching Hillary Clinton speak at the DNC convention. What an amazing speech! Loved the orange suit and I am sure the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits" did to. I would like to talk about the speech but this site is not about politics - we are all about and all for fashion!

So, on that note I must say convention fashion comes in the form of the quirkiest hats I have seen in a while. It seems like creativity runs wild and surfaces in the oddest ways. For Hillary it might be about the pant suits but for the attendees the hats are where its at. I guess that goes to show that you can express your views and political leanings in many varied ways. Here are some pics...

A Diva Would Never...

Hi Darlings:

Take a moment to log unto my new blog A Diva Would Never...

In this blog, I've created an e-drama based on the lives of three women living in Washington, DC. Diane, one of the characters narrates the story about her life in DC and her experiences with her two friends Cindi and Jaz. They are fashionable, out-going professional women who face many challenges each day but in the end they will always be friends…hopefully. What you have to ask yourself is whether the episodes are real life or fiction. The District can be a lot more interesting than you think. So, don’t believe the rumors… there is more to life in the District than politics, suits and power lunches.

I post a new episode every Monday. So subscribe by bookmarking the blog or adding me to your RSS feed so you can keep up with each episode.

Olympics - Confidence Strongest Fashion Statement

Hi Darlings:

I was watching the Olympics on and off while out-of-town resting and I could not help but notice that the athletes had one accessory we should all own - self-confidence. Without it they couldn't win and we can't succeed.

Yes, Usain Bolt was criticised for being cocky. But I believe that one man's cocky is another man's confident. I was just in the Caribbean and he is a hero to natives of all the islands whether or not they are Jamaican. For a group of people who infrequently have such role models who are spotlighted internationally, he is a hero and his show of confidence after bolting across the finish line - so to speak - part of a culture of people who are naturally expressive. His confidence is inspiring.

On a different note self-confidence also allowed the American gymnasts too prevail despite the odds against them.

For many the Olympics are over and so is the televised inspiration of watching the athletes achieve their dreams. The reality is that you don't have to wait another 4 years to be inspired to be your best. We all have it within in us to be self-inspiring. I always hope everyone can aspire to follow their dreams with confidence.

You only live once.

Hugs.

Olympics Fashion...

Darlings:

I love the olympics! Like everything else sports related I am definitely the bandwagon girl...but I am quick to catch up! I caught the gymnastics competition today and watched them flip, vault and twirl on the edge of my seat. I also saw Michael Phelps and the other swimmers in the relay win the gold! Hmmm...he is such a cutey...le sigh.

Here are some pics from the NY Times Slideshow...enjoy!

Katie Holmes and the Jeans saga...

Darlings:

Katie Holmes is usually tres chic...well most of the time. But there was never more speculation over her clothes than when she wore these unfashionable jeans last week, as in every day the same pants.

First, what celeb wears the same thing every day unless you are trying to mess with the paps or you are Amy Winehouse. There were rumors made up that she was preggers or that she was wearing Tom's clothes because she missed him so much. This is probably the most time apart we've noticed between the two since they were married...so I considered that a possibility. Whatever the case I was also not sure if she was preparing for a boyish role in her current Broadway play Arthur Millers All My Sons...she did cut her hair short. I was just annoyed because the jeans were baggie circa '85 and the cuffs were folded as in Jennifer Grey in "Dirty Dancing" - either way a trend No One wanted to come back. Was she trying to be the death of fashion?

Well as it turns out she WAS wearing Tom's PRPS jeans. PRPS is trying to adapt the jeans for women called the boyfriend jeans coming soon this Fall. Maybe she is getting paid... Stop it Katie! No amount of money is worth being fashion road kill!

Herve Leger - Making a Major Comeback!

Hi Darlings,
Everywhere we turn lately someone is wearing a variation of the Herve Leger dress. It has truly been the fashion staple that has withstood the test of time. I call it the fabulous fashion statement for fabulous bodies!

The dresses made of bands of stretch fabric give an amazing fit. Leger himself a french designer has been around since the 1970's and has worked for Karl Legerfield and Diane von Furstenberg. He created this unique look which has in turn become his trademark look since 1989. The Herve Leger fashion house is under the ownership of Max Azria who seems to be taking over the fashion world one brand at a time, but the dress is all Leger. The celeb love with the brand started with Tyra Banks and it has now become a fashion staple for Rihanna and many others. One main design idea and so many colors. Simplicity at its best.

Check out this vintage Herve Leger 1993 show. Watch Tyra and the other models strut their stuff.

One question: How do they fit and sashay in those tight dresses? It must be a special skill.
